Seasoned marketer, strategist, and innovator, with 20+ years experience building products and experiences that break the script and make people smile.

Colleagues and friends describe me as a creative who gets sh!t done.

I think a bit differently. My professional passion, and superpower, lies in inspiring and leading teams to think big and build consumer experiences that deliver emotional impact.

Working at the intersection of Product and Brand, I collaborate fluently across design, product, engineering, marketing, finance, and operations. My ability to affect change lies in understanding the unique priorities and motivations of these disparate functions.

I view Brand Marketers as storytellers selling experiences. If Digital Storytelling provides scale and reach, and Physical Storytelling provides depth, then the magic is in the mix.

Without question, successful brands require a compelling Brand Strategy and Identity. These assets are table stakes. However, having witnessed exceptional Brand Strategies written and re-written, at the expense of action, I place a higher value in how brands are truly experienced. Through this lens, brand and product go hand in hand, whereas the product (experience) is the foremost representation of the brand.

Professionally, I am interested in consumer products that help people live happy and healthy lives. This broad focus covers a wide array of categories including Entertainment, Hospitality, Fitness, Wellness, Healthcare, and Education. I value fun, irreverence, and play. Life is serious business, and we can’t discount the importance of smiling.

WORK HISTORY

LYFT — I invented Lyft’s original furry pink mustache, aka “Carstache,” which originated as a novelty startup that I sold to Lyft, joining full-time to help found their marketing function. At Lyft, I experienced the company’s transition from startup, to hyper-growth, to pre-IPO, and finally as a publicly traded company. Throughout my tenure, I wore a variety of hats that spanned Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Experiential Marketing, Culture & Entertainment Marketing, in addition to leading software and hardware development of brand-focused products and experiences. I built each generation of Lyft’s in-car hardware devices including the connected Lyft-lights seen on vehicle dashboards today, and led Brand and Industrial Design for Lyft’s burgeoning Bikes and Scooters division.

AOA — In early 2023 I departed Lyft to join AOA Experience, a category leading experience design agency in the Themed Entertainment Industry. Founded by Ex-Disney Imagineers, AOA provides a full-service offering from Concept through Construction Management - they don’t just dream up experiences, they build them. Where at Lyft I had spent 75% of my time convincing leadership teams to GO BIG on experiences, at AOA, leadership teams solicit their expertise to make their dreams a reality. I wanted to learn from the best, and AOA was a bootcamp for the science behind designing and delivering impactful guest experiences - Imagineering-For-Hire. Some of AOA’s clients include Disney, Universal, Virgin Galactic, Blackstone, Netflix, Lego, Hasboro, Gensler, and SpaceX.

PRE-LYFT — Prior to Lyft I founded Carstache LLC (sold to Lyft), founded a mobile gaming company called RunWilder Entertainment Inc., and led Brand and Product Marketing as a founding of member Tencent’s US gaming operation. In my earlier carrier I worked in media buying for Sony Music, and joined an early online music streaming startup called Ruckus Network to lead experience design, product marketing, and brand marketing.
